The Role of a Wife
The role of a wife: something our society has warped completely. Our society feeds us so many lies when it comes to roles in the home.
I struggle with not really knowing what I want to do (career/school wise). However, one of my biggest dreams growing up was to become a wife to a godly, handsome man (with dimples), a hard worker, and strong leader, and someone who would make me laugh. Now that this dream has come true, I am reminded all the time just how important my role is. There are days and weeks when I go through the motions and forget just how much I can impact my husband on a daily basis. The amount of respect I have for him affects him greatly. I can say, “I love you” all day long, but without great effort behind those three words, they mean very little. Our roles as wives should not be taken lightly. I am young and definitely have no idea what I’m doing some days, but I do know that God has given me the most precious and amazing privilege of being a wife to the most incredible man. It is my job to encourage him, help him, lift him up, take care of him, pray for him, pursue him, thank him, love him, and most of all, point him towards Christ. I may not know what the next 5, 10, or 15 years holds, but I do know that in this season of life, I have an amazing husband whom I want to share the love of Christ with everyday. More than anything else, I want my husband to know that he is loved and adored by his wife, and even more so by God. So if you are struggling with comparing your time line with others, just know that God has you right where He wants you. It might be in college, it might be at home taking care of your family, it might be at a job. We just have to remember that wherever He has us, He is with us and He will show us the way. He is faithful, and He knows our hearts.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13.
